National Parks Conservation Association and PBS Host "Feel Free: A National Parks Celebration in Central Park"
As part of National Parks Week NYC, this evening of music and film will premiere clips from Ken Burns’s upcoming PBS film “THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA’S BEST IDEA” accompanied by special guests and musical performances
WHO:
Performances by: Eric Benet, Gavin DeGraw, Jose Feliciano, Carole King, Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas and Peter Yarrow; with a special performance by Counting Crows and Augustana.
Appearances by: Filmmaker Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan; New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Adam Arkin, EJ Bonilla; Lee Stetson; President and CEO of PBS Paula Kerger; New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe; Department of Interior Assistant Secretary Tom Strickland; Yosemite National Park Ranger Shelton Johnson; Park Superintendent Gerard Baker and others.
WHAT:
Hosted by the National Parks Conservation Association and PBS, “Feel Free: A National Parks Celebration in Central Park” will feature highlights from Ken Burns’s new PBS documentary, “THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA’S BEST IDEA,” (premiering September 27 on PBS) and musical acts by an array of talented performers. The live show from East Meadow in Central Park will be shared via satellite to PBS affiliates and other partners assembled in various locations around the country.
