Diversity Program Leader Named Person of the Year

Los Angeles - Outward Bound Adventures, Inc. has named National Parks Conservation Association Director of Diversity Programs Iantha Gantt-Wright "2001 Person of the Year." Gantt-Wright was honored for her work to create a National Park System that is relevant and accessible to all Americans.

"Separately, we are diverse communities of color struggling with the problems of accessibility to and lack of representation within the National Park System," said Gantt-Wright. "Together, we can find a solution."

Congressman Adam B. Schiff (D-CA) also awarded Gantt-Wright with a certificate of special recognition.

Outward Bound Adventures, Inc. was founded 40 years ago by a remarkable group of parents from the Los Angeles area's Black, Asian, and Latino communities. Today the program provides youth throughout Los Angeles County—many from at-risk populations—access to challenging outdoor environmental learning experiences.
