Conservation Web Site Wins Education Award

Washington, D.C. - The Web site of the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), the nation's leading national park advocacy organization, has received the StudyWeb® Academic Excellence Award and has been recognized as one of the best educational resources on the Web. The NPCA Web site, www.eparks.org, will be featured on StudyWeb.com.

"Our site teaches students about national parks and empowers them to make a difference in park protection," said Marie Jorgensen, NPCA Associate Director of Online Communications.

Student visitors to www.eparks.org can type in their zip codes to learn if their representatives and senators voted to protect national parks. For delegations with a poor showing, students can email instant letters encouraging the protection of national park resources such as wildlife, cultural artifacts, and historic battlefields. The site also offers students and teachers the opportunity to explore the National Park System and take action to preserve the parks through virtual visits, an action and information center, wildlife and habitat conservation information, cultural diversity information, and events.

Since its October 2000 launch, www.eparks.org has received 15 awards, including Cool Site of the Day, the Wildlife Tracker Gold Award of Excellence for superior design and environmental content, the Golden Web Award, of the International Association of Web Masters & Designers, and the Web Masters Award of Excellence 2000. StudyWeb is one of the Internet's premier sites for educational resources for students and teachers. Each site in StudyWeb includes a detailed review describing its editorial and visual merits.
