"Keep Parks Safe" Teleconference

February 25, 2008

This press briefing was about the NRA-driven effort to allow loaded guns in our national parks. After successfully pressuring Congress to introduce legislation on this issue, the NRA has now encouraged the Department of the Interior to reopen the park’s limited and reasonable regulations on guns in parks for public comment.

Four speakers from the National Parks Conservation Association, the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees, the Association of National Park Rangers, and the Ranger Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police provided an overview of this issue, and what this means for national park visitors and wildlife.
