Quiet of Winter at Grand Canyon

When we told our friends that we were going to the Grand Canyon in early December, they looked at us as if we were crazy. But the quiet and beauty of the park during the winter far surpasses any negatives associated with the cold. Crowds are non-existent in the winter. And the contrast of the snow against the reds and yellows of the canyon walls is magnificent. Hiking is challenging due to the ice (but Yaktrax really help), and warm clothing is a must, but the experience is well worth the effort.
