Climate Friendly Parks

For nearly 100 years, America’s national parks have inspired and educated our nation’s citizens, commemorating our national struggles and celebrating our shared cultural and natural heritage.  Today, as we face one of the greatest challenges to our nation – climate change – the national parks are ready to once again to inspire, educate, and engage our citizens.

There are nearly 300-million annual visitors to national parks--a tremendous opportunity for the entire park system to educate the public about the effects of global warming, and engage them in protecting the parks they love.  National parks such as Glacier, Zion, and Everglades have innovative strategies in place to reduce their climate pollution, and special public education programs to alert visitors as to how global warming is already affecting natural and cultural treasures.

NPCA is partnering with national parks throughout the country to help inspire visitors to embrace climate friendly solutions like using clean energy, reducing waste, and making smart transportation choices.
