About the Center for Park Research

Our mission

Provide expertise, and accurate and comprehensive research in support of America’s national parks and NPCA’s strategic plan.

NPCA works to protect America’s national parks and the natural, historic, and cultural resources protected within them. Since 2000, NPCA’s work has been consistently informed by research from its Center for State of the Parks (CSOTP). In 2011, CSOTP turned its attention to issues affecting the National Park System as a whole. Because of this change in focus, CSOTP changed its name to the Center for Park Research (CPR). The Center for Park Research delivers scientific information on systemic issues affecting national parks, and their solutions.
